Employment: Part Time Seasonal Position
Start Date: Pre-season start November 13th, 2022; Team Training anticipated start December 2nd (no training Dec 19-Jan 5)
End Date: April 15th, 2023
Compensation: Starts at $18 per hour, based on qualifications, experience & certifications
Team Training Hours: Friday: 1pm - 4pm; Saturday & Sunday 9am - 2:30pm; longer hours may be required on race and competition days
Job Requirements:
One year minimum as a ski and/or snowboard coach or instructor
Current member of U.S. Ski & Snowboard and/or USASA
Ability to demonstrate exceptional skills in their respective discipline and must be capable of skiing or snowboarding in all types of terrain in varying and sometimes hazardous snow and weather conditions
Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, families, and other coaches
Ability to act as a positive role model; inspiring, motivating, and positively influencing athletes and other coaches
General Responsibilities:
Organization and attendance of athletes during training and events
Set-up and maintenance of training courses and venues
Weekly meetings with Alpine Director to plan for athlete development
Execution of drills to improve tactics and technique of athletes
Able to explain, demonstrate, and evaluate drills and skill progressions
Expectations:
Punctual, reliable and displays proper appearance in accordance with team guidelines. Understands and is knowledgeable of the job skills, duties, protocols, and responsibilities
Proactive approach toward safety of self and others, maintains awareness of order and cleanliness in the workplace, and adheres to and supports safety policies and procedures of Flagstaff Ski & Snowboard Team
Set up quality Training Environments. Transport and install necessary equipment for training, safety and security including closures, signage, training poles/panels, drills and other equipment
The Flagstaff Ski & Snowboard Team is for, and about the youth and their training in skiing and snowboarding, and other life skills. As such, fun should be maintained as a key motivation at the core of the program, while not compromising discipline
Handle any conflicts in an upbeat and expeditious manner when necessary and escalate conflicts or issues to the Alpine Director when applicable
Responsible for regular communication with the athletes, parents/families, and the Alpine Director
